Pomplamoose is Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte

A VideoSong is a new Medium with two rules:

1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).

Living through Music…

(Broken Strings – James Morrison) Music always has a way of consolidating those thoughts that we have which are just outside of our grasp for expression.  Relationships are always hard… break-ups are worse… but no one ever talks about what happens after the breakup… It’s those times, when you’re just supposed to be ok again, that I find are the hardest… Rebuilding is always hard and this song speaks to that

Club Track of the Week…

(Bruised Water – Chicane feat. Natasha Bedingfield) This track takes Bruised Water by Natasha and Saltwater from Chicane and merges them into sticky sticky goodness.  As posted before, there is a special place in my heart for Chicane and these type of track are definitely why.

From a Friend…

(You Must be Out of Your Mind – The Magnetic Fields)  This from my friend Caitlin.  So several years ago (more than I am willing to admit) we were all  out in Santa Barbara CA and came across this band just getting started out there, The Magnetic Fields.  Now, they have just released a new album and are out on tour…  And I love that… This music reminds me of desert hikes, wine and cheese and thoughts of youth and finding yourself 🙂

Pediatrics: Rotation 1: Week 4

•March 13, 2010 • 1 Comment

So I knew going into my clinical years that I would have good rotations and bad rotations… I didn’t think that I would encounter the bad rotations so quickly.  I admit, usually I am a bit of a gunner.  I like to work at work and not goof around… I  like being so busy that I don’t realize that I just worked a 16 hour shift.   My current problem is that for the service I was on this week I saw 1 patient over a 72 hour span… and then they gave me a 3-day weekend.

Now I am not one to look a 3-day weekend in the mouth, but somewhere in the back of my head I know that really I am just paying a butt load of tuition to go get drunk on a Thursday… as if the bars are expensive enough.  But whose fault is all this?  The hospital’s for not having residents… no… the School’s for not informing us… maybe… the attending I am working with who seems as if they don’t have enough time for us… no comment… mine for not researching this enough to begin with… seems that way.

Now I don’t want to make it seem like the Attending I was with wasn’t doing a good job.  It’s just that without residents, there are less people to split the work between and thus people have less time to teach.  I  did get a really great information and feedback on SOAP notes this week and saw a case of Tuberous Sclerosis.  And I really appreciated those things.  The only problem is that I don’t want to hang onto that one thing and not address everything else.  It can’t be a good week just because one good thing happened.  Those things should be happening everyday.  And that they are not right now… is a little sad.

Don’t get me wrong, all in all, I am having a great time here, learning some stuff, and I have gotten one of the rotations that is the hardest to enroll into and complete out of the way.  Thankfully Pediatrics is a little lower on my potential list of residency plans that most other things.  But damn… I still have to be tested on this stuff in a year and I definitely don’t like to not know things… So I read… A LOT… but I often have this thought… damn… I could be reading at home… I would much rather being DOING something now and reading later.

But I have 2 weeks left now so I had better make the most of it.  And then I will be in NYC in my  OB/GYN rotation probably wishing that I was back in sunny PR enjoying myself instead of insanely busy with the prego ladies.  The grass is always greener huh…

Memory Lane = Trance

So I was surfing tonight and found these “Oldies but Goodies” after talking to one of my best friends.  He had recently watched the movie “Human Traffic” and the mention of it sent me down memory lane looking for the old tracks that set my heart on fire.  The first one, Chicane – Offshore is 4:17 of absolute bliss.  The second, Chicane – Saltwater is my favorite track of all time.  I used to sit and listen to these on repeat for days on end while studying for finals in college.  And tonight I realized that they have music videos that go with them.  How I never figured that out… I don’t know… but it’s a great surprise tonight!

Sandhya and I at San Jorge Hospital

At the hospital early. Rounded on my patients. Saw a 14 patient service. Had lunch. Saw ER admissions and did H&Ps and then did afternoon rounds on my patients! And out by 3pm!!!

Today was exactly how I had envisioned rotations being like. It was busy, but the Dra. Explained everything. It never felt like anyone was holding my hands but the was always someone there if I had a question.

The little coquito’s parents smiled when I came in the room and everyday I feel more and more at ease answering their questions even if they are in Spanish.

And I finally saw the sun again today! Oh how I missed you Mr. Sun! I may have to take my books to the beach this afternoon if it is still nice out 🙂

Sweet Vocals…

(In and Out of Love (Radio Edit)- Armin van Buuren) The female vocals on this are outta this world.  Nothing more to say.

Club Track of the Week…

(Telephone (Alphabeat Radio Remix) – Lady Gaga) Ok… So I love Gaga… and I love the clubs… and I always am annoyed when people call when I’m out.  How am I supposed to hear the phone ring when the DJ is laying sweet tracks.  People… text! 🙂

From a Friend…

(Whataya Want From Me (Fonzerelli Radio Remix) – Adam Lambert) This one from a DJ (Fernando) that I met this past weekend.  I was just hanging out at a friends house and he came over with his laptop and turned it into a party till the early morning!
